4 different paint colors
Step 1: Paint the canvas using the "base" color. I went with a chocolate brown.
Step 3: Once the top color has dried, take the sandpaper and run it over the canvas so the brown starts to show through. Apply more force to the edges.
**From this point to the finished project, I have a lack of pictures - sorry! I was watching football while completing the rest of this project so adding picture taking to that mix would have been too much.**
Step 4: Take the alphabet stencil and start marking the placement of the letters using a pencil. The beginning of the alphabet started halfway off the top, and some letters ran off the sides. I wanted it to look like it was continuing when it ran off the canvas. Also, I wanted to make sure all my L O V E letters would fit in FULL on the canvas - you have to run through the entire alphabet once and end up with the beginning of the alphabet in order to get the E to finalize LOVE.
Step 5: Once all the letters have been traced, go back start painting the letters (all except LOVE) your third color. Use the stencil as a guide placing it back over the letters you traced, sponging the paint onto the stencil. Leave a minute or two in between each letter you paint before moving onto the next to eliminate smudging. I used white paint on these letters.
Step 6: Paint L O V E with your fourth paint selection. I choose blue for this to round out the color pallet in our bedroom.
Step 7: Take the sandpaper and run it over the canvas again using a light amount of force. Go over the edges giving them the same rustic finishing as before.
It isn't perfect...and the placement of the LOVE aren't exactly where i would have liked them to be, but I still like the "out of the box" presence this piece has.
Step 8: Find a frame and white mat to hang the canvas in. I still need to complete this step. I will be sure to post pictures of the finalized product hanging in our bedroom.
