I am a HUGE
St. Louis Cardinals fan and last night was one very exciting night for the city of STL. In the month of September, the
Cardinals have really stepped up their game and got themselves back into the race for the Wild Card position for the Playoffs. They were competing against the Braves for this position who many people thought was no competition at all due to how many games ahead the Braves were mid September. However, the
Cardinals never stopped fighting, and as soon as the Braves started to slip, the
Cards nudged their way in and it became a fierce battle. Last night was the last game for both teams, the
Cards played the Astros and the Braves played the Phillies. The
Cardinals won their game which was awesome! Carpenter pitched a shut out game - no runs were scored! This meant that no matter what, we would have a good shot at making it to the playoffs...now our fate was in the hands of the Braves/Phillies game. If the Braves won, there would be a game played tonight in St. Louis to serve as the tie-breaker. If they lost, the
Cards automatically clinched the Wild Card and are in the playoffs.
The Braves played their hearts out last night and the game carried into 13 innings. In the end, the Phillies came out with a victory which was GREAT for us St. Louis fans! The
Cardinals did it!!! They came out of their slump, fought hard, and won a very deserving spot in the playoffs!!

Aren't these boys so cute!!! I am so happy that they pulled out this big win and now our baseball season will be extended! They play the Phillies - best 3 games out of 5 - starting Saturday. Tuesday and Wednesday they will play in STL. If I had tickets to one of those games, I would DIE...hopefully I can score some!
Everyone show some love and cheer on the Cardinals in their first match-up in the playoffs!
FYI - when the Cards won the World Series in 2006, they entered as the Wild Card Team ... knock on some wood but it could be a repeat!!
GO BIRDS!!
